What our participants are saying...
“I attended EmpowerWOC Project's inaugural Healing Retreat for Women of Color at the Whidbey Institute in November 2019. Leilani made sure that the retreat was a growing and learning space for all participants as well as a comfortable space for participants to develop deeper self-awareness around our trauma, healing our trauma to avoid passing it down to future generations, and building community to foster and support healing post-retreat. I especially appreciated Leilani's team of WOC healers that brought massage therapy, talk therapy, chiropractic work, art therapy, astrological readings, yoga, Reiki, and many other healing practices into one space so that the participants could be exposed to a wide variety of culturally relevant healing methods. Leilani is a highly skilled facilitator who is well-versed in addressing issues of race and gender. Leilani is especially skilled at identifying the "Essence" of individuals and developing individual leadership based on their strongest qualities. Leilani and her team bring authenticity, compassion, positivity, and encouragement to individuals with whom she works.” -Erin M.
"I had the absolute pleasure to attend the inaugural Healing Retreat for Women of Color at the Whidbey Island Institute in November 2019. Prior to this experience, I had never participated in a retreat, let alone one dedicated towards healing for people of color. This retreat was truly unique, not just in the sense of what it was and who it served, but also for the powerful healing and transformation it provided for all of the women that were present. Leilani and the wonderful healers/practitioners curated a safe and empowering space for women to be open to vulnerability and finding the healing not just in themselves, but in each other. In the end, I believe the greatest gifts that I received from this experience is a heightened sense of self love and the support from a strong and beautiful group of women that make up our magical sisterhood! Thank you Leilani and team! Excited for your continued success and positive impacts on our communities!" -Irah D.
